The Composer
Sculpture meets music.
THE COMPOSER- Series
Since his youth, the artist Heinz Aeschlimann has been a great admirer of Franz Liszt and his music.Inspired by Liszt’s personality and work, Aeschlimann has been working on the theme of 'composer' for more than forty years. This has given rise to a cycle of unique spatial sculptures on the topic. Aeschlimann is fascinated by the precision, plasticity and organic nature of Liszt's compositions, as well as by their extraordinary musicality and intelligence. Over and again, Aeschlimann is transported to higher planes by the many breathtakingly rapid passages and the energy driving the music onwards. Both as a gifted pianist and a composer, Liszt is a source of delight to Aeschlimann; the daring harmonies of his symphonic compositions lay the foundations for totally original musical creations, be it a new kind of piano music or a fresh style of composing, resulting in a modern musical language.
